End Effector Integration Engineer

  • Hybrid
    • Zurich, Zürich, Switzerland
  • Machinery & Industry

Job description

The hands of a humanoid robot are yours to design.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Own the end-effector strategy across different industrial robotics applications.

  • Analyze customer workflows and operational requirements to identify the most suitable endeffector solutions.

  • Evaluate and select commercially available end-effectors including grippers, suction systems, hooks, tool changers, robotic hands, cameras, and specialized tooling.

  • Drive standardization and platform thinking by reducing the number of end-effector variants while maximizing use-case coverage.

  • Define requirements for future end-effector solutions based on customer needs, product requirements, and engineering constraints.

  • Coordinate and manage relationships with external suppliers, technology partners, and development vendors.

  • Support feasibility studies, proof-of-concepts, customer evaluations, and pilot deployments.

  • Define evaluation criteria, benchmarking methodologies, and trade-off analyses for endeffector technologies.

  • Develop business cases and technical recommendations for buy-vs-build decisions.

  • Track emerging technologies and market trends in manipulation, grasping, vacuum handling, tactile sensing, dexterous hands, and industrial tooling.

  • Ensure successful integration of selected end-effectors into the robotic platform and deployment workflows.

  • Contribute to the development of a long-term manipulation and tooling roadmap.

Job requirements

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • BSc/MSc in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in robotics, automation, industrial tooling, end-of-arm tooling, application engineering, or solutions engineering.

  • Strong understanding of robotic manipulation systems and industrial automation.

  • Experience working with grippers, vacuum systems, robotic hands, tool changers, or similar end-effectors.

  • Experience evaluating and integrating third-party hardware solutions.

  • Strong systems-engineering mindset with the ability to balance technical and business considerations.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements and actionable engineering decisions.

  • Familiarity with any of ROS2, robot kinematics, manipulation/grasp planning, controls, force control, tactile sensing, or dexterous manipulation is a plus.
