    • Zurich, Zürich, Switzerland
  • Machinery & Industry

Job description

Your Role & Responsibilities

•     Design, build and own the software test automation infrastructure and frameworks for the Robotics team's software systems

•     Develop automated test suites covering unit, integration, system and regression testing across robotics software components

•     Work closely with robotics software engineers to define testable requirements and embed quality practices early in the development cycle ("shift-left" testing)

•     Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with integrated automated testing (build, test, deploy)

•     Identify, triage and track defects; collaborate with engineers to root-cause and resolve issues

•     Define test strategy, coverage metrics and quality KPIs for the team's software deliverables

•     Evaluate, select and introduce the test automation tools and frameworks best suited to robotics/embedded software

•     Continuously improve the reliability, speed and maintainability of the test infrastructure

•     Act as a quality advocate within the Robotics team, promoting a strong testing culture without belonging to a separate QA function

Job requirements

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

•     Proven experience as a Software Test Automation Engineer, SDET, or Software Engineer in Test, ideally within robotics, embedded systems, or complex hardware/software products

•     Hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from scratch, not just operating existing ones

•     Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)

•     Familiarity with robotics software ecosystems (ROS/ROS2) and/or simulation environments (e.g. Gazebo) is a strong plus

•     Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, or testing systems that interact with physical hardware, is a plus

•     A genuinely strong testing mindset - able to think through edge cases, failure modes and system reliability, not just "does it pass"

•     Comfortable working embedded directly within a development/engineering team rather than a separate QA department

•     An ownership mentality - comfortable building and owning infrastructure from the ground up

•     Fluent in English; German is a plus
